UK schools are set to save as new research unveils the extent of
cost-savings achievable through the adoption of interactive teaching
resources.
The study, conducted by Whizz Education, shows that the
average per-student cost of an interactive teaching resource is, at
most, half as much as their maths books and only one third as much as
the recommended spending on maths books.
The recommended figure for expenditure on maths
education books in primary schools is £7.50 according to the Book
Trust. At the bottom of this scale many schools spend £5 per child. The
average cost of an interactive maths teaching resource is £2.76. A
saving per child on the recommended spend of nearly £5.00.
Oli White, marketing manager, Maths-Whizz Teachers’
Resource, Winner of the BETT Award 2006, says, “Schools who have
adopted ICT are now realising that there are significant benefits for
the entire school. By saving up to a third in some case on core
resources schools are able to invest money in additional resources to
benefit schools in their entirety.”
